We arrived back to Quito on the Friday and headed back to our hotel Fuente Piedre 2. It was good to be back somewhere safe whilst staying in Quito. This hotel was really nice and cost with potentially the best showers to date. The front desk spoke little English but were very helpful and allowed us to spend most of the following day in the foyer before we made our move on to Peru.
On the Saturday night the remaining tour group went out for dinner. We went to a Mexican restaurant a few blocks down from our hotel. The food here was lovely and the margaritas even better. Although a tad more expensive than other more local restaurants it was a really nice dinner and I would really recommend going.
Katie and I spent most of Sunday organising our next move and wasting time before out 10 o'clock bus that evening.
To fill time we of course went shopping. I finally replaced my stolen back pack with this beauty. We went to a shop just a few stores down from the hotel Fuente Piedre 2. The bags in their are gorgeous and such a range of materials and patterns. It was a nightmare to choose just one. The man in the shop was so very helpful and kind I would recommend going to this store for the quality of bags out did many others.
We then of course went back to the bars. Our favourite on the square was Players. This was a good place to watch the World Cup games. Even better that it was currently 241 on cocktails whilst there.
After dinner in a small Italian restaurant we were finally ready to get out bus. We had bought out ticket earlier in the day for only $12 to Guyaquil. We left at 10 o'clock at night and arrived at 4.45 the next morning. The seats were fairly comfortable and reclined enough to have a semi- decent sleep.
It unfortunately got us in to Guyaquil a lot quicker than planned but obviously driving through the night meant the traffic was reduced. So there we where. 5 o'clock in the morning in god knows where in Guyaquil. We had spotted a Holiday Inn two minutes earlier down the road, so jumped in a taxi to try our luck.
The day rate was well over $100 but the receptionist was kind enough to allow us to stay in the foyer until it became a more reasonable hour.
At 7 in the morning we moved on to the airport across the road and continued our homelessness there. It was a good spot to just sit and sleep without looking out of place. We were able to grab some breakfast before heading to the bus terminal to carry on out journey.
