We awoke this morning to drizzly rain, after breakfast we began our two hour drive to Milford Sound. As we made our way the rain became heavier and heavier, of course we were thinking how terrible this was. Saturday 10th was another early start as we decided to visit Doubtful Sound. We made our way to Lake Manapouri where our first cruise boat sailed at 8am. To get to Doubtful Sound you cruise for 75 minutes and then catch a coach which takes you over the Wilmot Pass (over 6000 meters high) you then join your second cruise boat for a three hour cruise on the Sound. Today was a traveling day, moving between Dunedin and Te Anau, a drive of about four hours. This meant a slow start to the day with time for two cups of tea. Life in the camper van has settled into a pattern and we keep the double bed made up all the time. The weather has been so good that we have set up our table and chairs and had all meals outside. Although we can cook in the van and have a microwave the kitchens on the campsites have been so clean and well ...

This morning we decided to travel around the peninsula looking at the stunning scenery. At the end of a gravel track we saw a sign for Sand Fly Beach (name only) it stated it was as 2km walk down to the beach where you could see Sea Lions and penguins. For some reason we decided this would be a good idea so we made our way to the waters edge where we met a very large Bull Sea Lion, we have some great pictures of him on camera but none we can down load at the mom...

We moved on to Dunedin today, a trip of 200k which took about four hours including a lunch stop. We passed through the Garden County of New Zealand and couldn't resist stopping at one of the many pick your own orchards - now what can we do with 3lbs of cherries?
