Ok, got to be really quick again cos this place is charging me bloody 3 Baht a minute!! We're in Railey - a gorgeous beachy/limestone cliffy area in Krabi. Railey is so laid back and chilled out that we've been here for 4 days or so. This morning I went snorkelling in the most beautiful lagoony waters by myself cos Ant's had loads of swimming already. Unfortunately, there's something funny about the sea water in Thailand...or maybe it's just me, but in nearly every place I've swam in, I'm getting little bite/stingy sensations in alternating parts of my body. It can be quite painfula and annoying so it's stopped me from swimming now and again. But just seeing the beaches and this coastal village is worth it... the beach is powdery white and it really contrasts against my now very dark brown skin. This afternoon we went rock climbing on some off the limestone cliff faces (only small ones), but more experiences people are doing really high climbs in the cliffy things poking out of the blue beach sea which must look amazing from the top. Actually, rock climbing is what Railey is famous for so there's quite a hippy but fit crowd out here.
Yesterday we went to the fabulous Phi Phi Islands, where 'The Beach' with leonardo DiCaprio was filmed. There were such amazing fish there, really large multicoloured fish called Parrot Fish, and many others. We went snorkling in a few of the bays, and around some other islands, including monkey island. The water in all these snorkling sites is crystal clear, so I could even see the bottom of the deepest place we snorkelled, which was quite deep. Apart from that, we've been watching films in the evening at the restaurant and meeting wonderful people. Got to dash. Tomorrow morning hopefully a bit of kayaking with Ant around these lovely rocks poking out of the sea and the little bays, secluded beaches and lagoons (one of which I found this morning and had to myself, which was a dream!), then in the afternoon I think we'll be off back to Phuket to fly to Chiang Mai, where Ant is dying to go cos there's some Tao Gardens retreat there where you can stay and meditate etc for a phenomenal price. Speak to you all soon, oh yeh - he's teaching me to ride a motorbike...scary!! xx
