Friday, Regina, Mags and I decided we would go to Tigre to see the area. It is the starting point to most visits to the largest Delta in the world, the Parana delta and is where the river Plata runs through. We took an early train out and then when we arrived took a catamaran ferry around the nearest delta. Along the way there was lots of ship wrecks and lovely houses along the wetlands, and some lovely views. In the galley of the boat there was food on sale, and we bought some of the lovely looking cakes, even if they were a bit expensive, they really looked savage. After the ferry we took a walk around the town and went down to the fruit market, which sells a lot more than just fruit. It has stalls for all sorts of things (like most markets to be honest). All we got was cake, yes more cake!
On our way back towards the tourist path around the town we were stopped by a man selling boat trips. He asked if we had taken a ferry already today and when we told him we had taken the catamaran he sighed. He then showed us his photos from his tour, they looked pretty cool to be honest, proper delta rivers with no houses, and even a place in the delta where you can get out of the boat and stand in a few inches of water, but you are surrounded by water for miles all around, so you can take a photo like you are standing on water..... would have been a great profile pic for facebook. Unfortunately it was a bit pricey, and he told us that we could come back again another day if we wanted. As we were leaving, he said he was finished his shift in about an hour, and if we liked, and if one of the girls was single, he would take us for a trip to a few bars on his boat..... eh no thanks fella!!!!
The town itself is very sleepy, and with lots of lovely houses. There must have been about 20 yacht or rowing clubs, all with fantastic looking club houses... very english looking architecture for a change. We walk up along the bank of the river and find a lovely big house, its in the photo blog... And then we head back to the train. We had also found out there was a coastal train at this stage, but we had our lovely commuter train to look forward to. At least the entertainment on board was good. On the way out, there was two old guys playing a guitar and a drum, and singing some spanish style music, quite enjoyable stuff. After a few verses however, a young man got up from beside them and stood in the middle of them, Regina said to me "I bet he'll start rapping", and so he did, busted in to some chunes and it wasn't half bad to be honest!!!
Got back to town, and went for dinner, steak again... am I sick of it yet????? Regina ordered a Ham and vegetable omlette... it had no ham, and the vegetable was spinach, just spinach..... there may have been egg in it too, perhaps???
I think thats more or less how that day went. Not my best write up admittadly, but what can ya do.. the boat tour we should have gone on would have made the day more writable aboutable. Til next time again....
