Colleen & Tom's Explorations
We started our day with a lovely breakfast in the dining room with some really interesting people from WA and Victoria. Tom missed out on his painting lesson today because he was only 1/2 hour early. Apparently it filled an hour before schedule. So we spent our morning watching our progress around Cape York. It was awfully hot and muggy outside, so we only went out for the odd photo. As we neared the tip of the cape we were excited to find we had service too, so we could communicate with our girls. We went to the dining room for lunch and were very lucky to have a table for 2. We asked for our bottle of Shiraz we'd had put aside. I had Caesar Salad Bondi - with beerbattered prawns, followed by an open steak sandwich, and then by profiteroles. Tom had a Thai chicken and coconut soup as an entree, then the same as me. The steak sandwich was terrible - tough steak, and the bread was impossible to cut. Tom thinks the best meats are used by the extra cost restaurants. After lunch I went up to the bar on level 14 to watch the water and read - the only place I can find on the ship where you can do both (it lacks the nooks to be found on QM2). Unfortunately I didn't know about the ribbon folding class, followed by the adult colouring class, followed by the line dancing class. It eventually became too much noise I returned to the cabin just minutes before Tom who'd been down to the theatre to watch the Tom Cruise movie. After our naps we changed for a very ordinary buffet dinner (roast beef, mashed potato and zucchini, but wonderful Baileys Irish Cream cheesecake) in the Windjammer, followed by the show in the theatre - Tom Burlinson! He sang songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior, Tony Bennett and Michael Buble. 'Twas a wonderful show.
