After our Scottish breakfast we ventured downstairs and got a taxi over to L'Enfant Plaza (named for Pierre L'Enfant, the Frenchman who designed Washington) where I joined my Washington Grand Tour group, consisting of three other people. Tom was off before 9am to make his way, via the Metro and the public bus system, to the Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Centre. The centre is over one and a half hours away and it is part of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and Tom LOVED it. The museum is HUGE! We went downstairs for our free breakfast - the cooked food looked awful. None of it looked appetising at all. I tried a dried up sausage and 2 bacon rashers cooked till even the devil left them alone. I resorted to two pieces of toast with peanut butter and strawberry jam (and they'd hidden them up with the fruit - not next to the bread as they were yesterday).
