Our very expensive taxi ride from Veliko Tarnovo was uneventful, about 3 hours and we were delivered to our hotel. For the cost we should have been carried to our room. Part of the trip was really hilly and part was like Saskatchewan.

Our hotel is Plovdiv is Roots Hotel & Wine Bar. Guess who picked it. The owner lived in Toronto for 20+ years so speaks great English. He was really helpful with the map showing how to navigate Plovdiv and recommending restaurants.

There are Roman ruins everywhere. In the middle and underneath the huge pedestrian walking street tpdoentown there is an ancient coliseum that is remarkedly well preserved. There is a Roman theatre really near the top of old town, similar to Jerash, if you have seen that. They still use it for concerts.

In restaurants meals are served when they are ready. For the 2 of us the meals often show up minutes apart

We have seen a t-shirt in store widows with the Canadian maple leaf and the caption DSQUARED2. No clue
