Today we are in Athens. There was expected unrest in the city due to the German Prime Minister Merkel speaking at Parliament so independent tours were strongly discouraged and many of the ships tours were cancelled as well. Fortunately we did get a morning tour of the city before the roads were blocked and were able to visit the Acropolis. It is an awesome archeological site and towers high above the city of Athens. The Parthenon and the Erechtheum are amazing monuments. We were able to spend quite a bit of time walking around the ruins and imagining what is would have been like so long ago!
Our weather has continued to be great as it's warmer than we anticipated. We did hear that there were 25,000 protesters and tear gas was used so we were fortunate to see as much of Athens as we did.
