Well paradise started off wet - very wet! Our flight from Auckland to Nadi was very special as we had the New Zealand Maori Rugby team on board, much to the pleasure of all the females!! When we arrived we were greeted with a shell necklace and packed off to our hostel for the night.
The following day we caught our 4 hour ferry to the Yasawa islands and our resort Long beach - which lived up to its name. Unfortunately our first few days were spent getting rained on, so we made the most of the local village and spent many hours entertaining the children.
We then came back to the main island where we booked ourselves on the Feejee experience. This tour took us around the main island for four days where we went sand boarding, bilibili rafting, visited markets, villages, mud pools, hot springs, schools, beaches, made our own jewellery and rotis and drank a hell of a lot of Kava. Kava is used to welcome visitors everywhere you go. Its not alcoholic but is a narcotic, which makes your mouth go numb and then your head!! They say over here its their answer to family planning, as there's no chance of the men having the energy to make a move! It looks and tastes like muddy water!
So all in all Fiji has been a pretty cool place, even if we didnt spend much of it on beaches. The weather was fine after the first few days reaching up to 38 degrees, so slightly different to New Zealand! We have however, all suffered the last few days from Fiji belly - I blame the Kava!
