Hello again, We're now in Antigua and at the end of our first week of Spanish School. It's been great, but really tiring. We're staying with a local family to try to communicate as much as possible but we've a long way to go... Going to climb the volcano this weekend. A&J

Hello from Guatemala, we just arrived yesterday on a bus-boat-bus journey from Palenque, Mexico. We`re in Flores at the moment in a really lovely little hostel. Our room is actually a tree house with a hammock outside on the deck. The owners have 2 parrots that are allowed to roam around freely, so we had a visit from one of them last night. He was sitting on a branch outside our open window chatting to us. More news to follow soon...

Hola Amigos! We´ve just had a week at the beach (three different beaches to be precise). We started in Cancun, which was a bit too 'Disney' but just has to be experienced. Then we moved south to Playa del Carmen, which again is very touristy, but the water is beautiful and the beach is a broad band of fine white sand. Well the adventure starts here! For the next 7 months we will be travelling through Central and South America and our first stop is in Mexico City. We found a great hostel overlooking the cathedral square with a rooftop bar. The city is surprisingly attractive. There are lots of beautiful buildings and large parks - not at all what we had expected.

After all that rushing around in New Zealand we decided it was time to relax, so we headed to Santa Monica and hit the beach. After a day of lazing around and people watching we managed to drag ourselves to Hollywood and had a stroll down Rodeo Drive. We were there for Easter weekend so there was a great atmosphere and lots going on.
