Our 7th day in Malaysia and we've been overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Malaysian people. We've stayed with friends in both Kuala Lumpur and Penang and been really well looked after. Visited the Petronas towers, China town and the Batu Caves and sampled dim sum and curry for breakfast! Made a boat trip at night to see the fireflies (their tails twinkle in the trees like fairy lights, giving an amazing Christmas tree effect). We also had a day at Genting Highlands, which is Malaysia's answer to Las Vegas. Gamblers come from all around Asia to try their luck and continue around the clock. (Not wanting to risk losing the meagre contents of our backpacks, we stuck to the theme park instead...)
We've spent the weekend on Penang Island partying with our friends to celebrate Andrea's birthday and escaping the heat by taking a cable car up Penang Hill for a great view of the island. Tomorrow we're catching the morning ferry to Langkawi for a few days (a Unesco Site and duty free island).
We know you're all waiting for photos - promise to post some soon!
Hope it's not too chilly there...
