I consider it absolutely befitting that the first entry of this blog goes to The bay- Maya bay. Ao maya's beauty is so stupendous and overwhelming that it seems to deeply affect those who travel to it. Having said that, i was very very lucky to visit the place when there were just 3 other people. I managed to charter a longtail boat along with this Australian dude, his jap girlfriend and an American. So it was just the 4 of us sleepyheads off to ao maya at 7 in the mornin. As you approach the island the beauty unravels with each limestone karst. The final treat Mother nature throws at us is the bay itself. The turquoise wates and the virgin cliffs place u in a state of instant awe and youre like"wat d f***"!!! why were'nt u here before?" The beach in maya has the softest sand ive ever touched and the bay is not very shallow-perfect for some swimming and snorkelling. well phi phi leh is part of the phi phi archipalego and it gained worldwide fame after it was made the main set of the famous or shall i say infamous movie"the beach". Apart from the bay itself the place is also great for snorkelling, with visibility sometimes upto 12 to 15 feet. There is a very very tacky "viking cave"which can be missed. When we visited the bay the seas were quite rough and we had to like hold on to our boat at certain points but otherwise it was a great journey-one which i plan to do again. well i gotto go, my yatthai noodles are gettin cold.
