Well... I'll start at the beginning... I'm sure all/most of you reading this know about the drama in Bali... Was a bit of a nightmare really but all character building as they say! We didn't really see much of Bali apart from the hospital and hotel but we were well looked after by some lovely people.
We're now in Perth and Charlie's pretty much 100% now, she still has to be a little careful but has been on top form on the dancefloor! So, we arrived in Perth on the 17th and decided we'd still like the campervan experience so we hired a beaten up wicked campervan for a week to travel around a bit. So we started by going to Fremantle which was nothing very special really, then found a nature reserve to camp in, the signs didn't say anything about not camping but said the carpark would close at 9pm, so we sat and waited in the dark campervan hoping we wouldn't be chucked out... a car drove round and shone a torch through the window but we hid so didn't get thrown out. Then a massive thunderstorm started, frickin scary in a tin campervan, especially when we saw a flash of lightening and all the carpark lights went out, I thought we might die! But we survived to spend the next day in Rockingham, where we stayed with Charlie's mum's best friend Carole and her housemate Shez who were hilarious and they took us out for a yummy Chinese meal. The next day we had a proper road trip, driving to Bunbury which had a beautiful beach, via a scenic drive through Australind where we saw kangaroos! Then to Peppermint Grove Beach which was pretty, then to Busselton which had a 2km long pier out to sea but nothing else exciting. By the time we left Busselton it was getting late so we started to look for somewhere to stay, we drove for ages looking for somewhere but there was literally nowhere, in the end, after a lot of tired and hungry bickering, we stopped at a police station to ask if we could stop on the side of the road but they said no, so we had to pay to stay in a campsite in Yallingup... Charlie and Lois booked us in while I stayed in the van and Charlie lied and said there was just the two of them to get it cheaper, so I had to climb over the back and squidge myself under the tables like an illegal immigrant to hide from them, then they smuggled me out the same way in the morning! Next day we went to Margaret River where I got bitten by a big evil ant, it dug its teeth in and I had to literally pull it off me, my toe is still red and deformed! Then Charlie and Lois did some wine tasting at 10.30am so I had to drive the drunkards around, we then did some jam tasting, then cheese tasting... yummy! We then headed to Pemberton and found a national park to stay in, it was proper outback and we were the only ones there, I actually thought we might get murdered! It was so pitch black, you literally couldn't see your hand infront of your face, so we were too scared to go outside to wee so we all pee'd in cups in the campervan and chucked the wee out the window! Then next day we went to some national parks, one called Beedelup which had a waterfall with a bridge over it which Charlie screamed like a baby about, even thought it really wasn't very long or swingy! It pee'd down rain all day so I got my lovely rain mac out, we have some very sexy photographic evidence of that! We stopped that night at an eco caravan park (whatever that is) where there were sooooooo many bugs in the showers and dead moths everywhere. Then the next day we did a treetop walk, along a steel bridge which goes higher and higher all the way up to 40 metres so you're literally walking in the treetops, right pretty that were. We then did the epic drive back to Perth which took about 6 hours, then stayed at the nature reserve again and luckily weren't chucked out.
So we're now back at the hostel in Perth until the 29th when we fly to Adelaide, which everyone has been telling us is crap! We went out on Tuesday night to a backpacker night which was brill, me and Charlie got very nicely drunk without actually buying any drinks, woo! Then on Wednesday we went into Perth city centre and I got my tragus (middle bit of cartilage in the ear) pierced on the spur of the moment! Yesterday we went to Kings Park where we climbed some really steep steps to the top of the park which had a lovely view over the city. We then went out last night and had another very drunken evening with lots of people we've met at the hostel! So after the nightmare of Bali, things are going really well and we're having a brilliant time... Just to rub it in, it's great here, lovely and warm and everyone is SO friendly and laid back.
