I was honoured yesterday to have a true Australian BBQ, cooked by Australians and in the company of a family of Australians. I'm now feeling pretty Australian.
I'm also slowly being taught new words by Mikaela to help me through my month here: snags (sausages), lollies (sweets), icy poles (ice lollies), bogan (chav), blowies (flies).
After a rather emotional goodbye to Mikaela's mum and little sisters at the airport, we went into the city to drink, because it's clearly the best way to deal with goodbyes. Drunk Mikaela felt a lot better and was very grateful for the wine and the company. However, soon jetlag caught up with me and we decided to call it a night.
This morning has consisted of calling hostels (with very chirpy Aussies on the other end of the line) and planning our next few days in Melbourne.
Now we're about to head out into the city to book our buses and then make our way to St Kilda for the St Kilda festival and penguins!! I'm pretty over-excited at the prospect of seeing penguins so look out for the photos!

Mum Your last paragraph will be killing the boys!! They will be drowning in nostalgia and envy xx
Tom Galbally Booking accommodation as you go would be too much for me, I'd have to get a nice hotel sorted for each stage of the trip before I left. I am too old to go travelling and I'm only 25 x
Rachel Anderson Wow, you're getting old tom! x
