The twelve hour bus journey overnight meant that we arrived in Byron Bay at 7 am, hungry, grumpy and disgustingly tired. As we couldn't check in until 2 pm we showered and then decided to splurge on a big breakfast because we deserved it.
Next we headed to the beach and got the chance to take in the chilled out atmosphere of the town. After falling asleep on the beach (not a brilliant idea - ask Mikaela) we had lunch on the beach and went to check in.
The hostel could not have been more different from Sydney. We had a huge room, the showers were clean, there was a courtyard with hammocks and Jacuzzis, and the layout was a lot more open and easy going.
We chilled in the hostel and then drank Gossips in the courtyard while making friends with two Venezuelan guys who found our twelve hour bus journey hilarious. On the recommendation of my brothers, we headed to Cheeky Monkeys for dinner with vouchers from our roommate which got us a free drink and money off the meal.
It turns out that it was a brilliant decision to go to Cheeky Monkeys as it was Valentine's Day and Ladies Night, which meant a lot of free drinks.
A basketball competition and a lot of dancing on tables later, we went back to the hostel ready to check out at 10 am. Again.
