Our Adventure to Jaisalmer
We got on the 'Luxury Coach' at 11pm from Pushkar and climbed into our overhead luggage compartment of a sleeper. Rach's first reaction was complete and utter panic. Once this had subsided worries of how badly she needed the toilet began. Many options were discussed including peeing out of the window and wetting herself and claiming she'd poured water down herself. The truth is not for me to say, but a physical recreation is in order when we return. Luckily before the most extreme options became a reality the bus stopped and we both legged for a pee in the bush.
Jailsalmer was beautiful, like a big sandcastle in the desert and there were some beau Jain temples inside the fort. I got to meet my first Jain and we chatted about life as a Jain for a while. We then got to leave Pushkar behind spiritually as well as phyisically with some afternoon drinking overlooking the fort.
On day two we went to a gorgeous haveli outside the fort and got into an argument with our self-imposed guide when we weren't looking at what he was explaining. I thus threw him of the 5th floor and we have now gone into hiding. We escaped into an even nicer Haveli built by some Jains. There we saw the man who claimed to have the longest moustache in the world. Mr local celebrity. We then ate some meat and got on the bus home to Pushkar, where
Rach wants me to let you know that we saw kids pooing over open sewers and a cow having a massive wee. (Rach's seems to have become obsessed with weeing).
We are now in Udaipur which is really beautiful and actually has water in its lake. Ate in a posh restaurant last night overlooking the lake, city palace and water palace which was twice as expensive as our normal meals (11 pound) but have compensated by staying in a lovely small family guesthouse with family running round everwhere for 4 pound.
Goaing tomorrow
Much love Joe and Rach x x x x
