Having decided we weren't going to fork out for a trip to Fraser Island we decided it was time to move on. If we're honest we're struggling to warm to Australia, we've really not been impressed with much of Queensland so we were hoping the cities would have a bit more to offer. Next stop Brisbane.
It was a very difficult 5am start but we were in Brisbane for 12.20pm which meant we could grab some lunch and see a little of the city. Our hostel seemed OK, lots of people staying there, good kitchen, a wicked view of the city over the river and free WIFI for the first time on the Australian leg so we were able to catch up on the blogs.
We walked around the city at about 6pm to grab some food for tea which might sound easy but most supermarkets were closed, weird. The first impressions of Brisbane were very good, the centre is very small (not much bigger than Burnley) but with high rises all along the river. As it went dark all the buildings were lit.
We managed to get to Woolworths before it closed and headed back to the hostel for the evening where we made our tea and sat in the common area for the rest of the evening, making the most of the free internet.
