Still struggling from the flight a couple of days ago, when the alarm went off at 5am our bodies did not know what was going on. We were catching the Greyhound bus from the down-town area, which didn't sound too appealing, but we had little other option.
Thankfully the bus taking us for the hour across town arrived within minutes and the driver seemed pretty helpful. The bus travelled through some decent areas but as you would expect the city was a little grim just before dawn.
We were dropped off three or four blocks away from the bus depot and to the relative safety of the station. The place was really depressing, Tom even managed to get frisked, "are you carrying a knife....... are you carrying a knife" the security guard insisted in questioning, weird country, catching a bus, this shouldn't be required, unfortunately here it is.
I'd like to say we were on our way quickly enough but for some insane reason you're told to arrive an hour in advance. Eventually we boarded and returned to our old ways and promptly fell asleep for a good few hours.
We stopped for lunch at........ you guessed it........ the Golden Arches, McDonald's. But it was fun and the service station like something from Disneyland, we were getting excited for Las Vegas by now!
It has to be said our first impressions of Sin City weren't too great, with no connecting buses to the strip and Rachael getting hassle from the local "wannabe gangsters" we jumped in a taxi to the Luxor hotel.
We dropped our bags in the room and headed out to explore. We walked around lots of the casino's, many of which you've seen hundreds of times in the movies, had a go on a few slot machines and watched the water fountain show outside the Bellagio. For our tea we managed to stuff ourselves silly with an all you can eat Chinese for just £6.00 Amazing!
