Landed in Sydney around 0800. Passport control and quarantine in Sydney airport was a bit over the top, but managed to get through ok.
I asked a staff member about getting a shuttle bus to my hostel, the wake up. I was directed to a mini bus which cost $12 and took me straight to the door.
I was able to check in and put my stuff in the room straight away, although they warned me the beds had not been changed yet. I took my bag up to the 8 man dorm. The room was a tip. I asked a Canadian lad who was sat in bed on his computer if he knew which bed was free. Top bunk on the far wall.. great!
I just dumped my stuff, and heard there was a city walk at 1100 ran by the hostel. I went on that. Got talking to a couple of girls who were also travelling alone. The tour was good, saw all the usual sights, Darling Harbour, the bridge, harbour and opera house, and gardens. Was good to see the city, although i was so jet lagged, and met some people.
Underneath the Wake up Hostel is a bar called side bar. Monday night is the busiest night, so the girls I just met and I decided to go out.Had a really good night, the music was good, just the same as home.
