We got up ready to check out of the hostel at 10am. Then we walked to Brisbane Transit Centre and waited for our Greyhound bus to arrive at 10.30am. It was on time and we headed to Surfers Paradise. It only took an hour and a half. We arrived at the bus station around 12 noon and saw Rory, James, Dave, Axel, Daniel and Pops. They only stayed 1 night in Surfers Paradise and said to Gina and I that they wished that they had more time to stay longer. We said goodbye to the lads and walked to our hostel - Backpackers in Paradise where we are staying for 4 nights. The guy at reception was the slowest person and took forever to check everyone in. Finally we got the keys to our dorm room and got settled. We grabbed some lunch and then headed into town which was a 5 minute walk. We went into Centro Shopping Mall. Wide range of good shops here and where we found the supermarket Woolworths. We stocked up on food supplies for the next 5 days and took it back to the hostel. Afterwards we headed out again and had a look around the area. The beach is so close to where we are staying. We got ourselves an ice cream from McDonalds as they are so cheap. They are 50 cents which is about 25p. We went on the beach and sunbathed for a while. It was a bit windy and sand kept flying everywhere so we decided to leave. We headed back to the hostel late afternoon and I went on the internet for a bit. The hostels around Surfers Paradise organise a big night out on Wednesday and Saturday nights. You pay $30.00 and get free entry into four clubs and get a free drink in each club and then half price drinks after that. Gina and I were going to do this on Saturday night but then felt like going out so we decided to do the big night out tonight instead. We got ready and had a few drinks at the hostel bar as we got cheap drinks here as well. One of the girls from our dorm room Anne Mari was out with her friend Heli so we got chatting to them. We were given a free beach towel and phonecard each. At 8.30pm our bus arrived to take us to where all the bars and clubs were. The first club we went in was Cocktails and Dreams. Gina and I were dancing and saw the four Bristol guys Craig, Mike, Spencer, and Rich from our Fraser Island trip on the dancefloor. They were on the bar/club crawl as well. Later on we saw Dina and her cousins dancing. They had been on the Kiwi Experience with us in New Zealand. It was great to see all of them again. We then moved onto The Bedroom, Shooters and the last club of the night Sin City. By the end of the night we were both really drunk and walked back to the hostel around 3am. After getting a pizza slice of course. When we got back a guy at the entrance of the hostel asked for my room number. As I was very drunk I thought he was hitting on me so I told him to go to his own room. He kept on asking my room number so I kept repeating myself and told him to go to his own room. Then someone told me that he was security and asking for everyones room number. How embarrassing lol.
