We had to wake up really early this morning as we were going up to the lighthouse to see the sunrise. The bus had been fixed finally and we left the hostel at 4.45am. There were loads of people going to the lighthouse so the bus had to make two trips. It was really dark outside and I was feeling very tired. I couldn't sleep very well last night as it was so hot in our dorm room. Neither could Gina. It took 15 minutes to drive to the lighthouse. On our bus we saw two girls who we had met in Mission Beach. We got dropped off down the bottom of the lighthouse and had to walk up the hill to it. We had a look around and waited for the sun to rise. It was around 5.40am when the sun started to rise. It was so amazing and beautiful in the sky. Once we had seen the sunrise we walked back down the hill and got the bus back to the hostel. We got back around 6.15am and went back to sleep as it was still very early. We got up again ready to check out of the hostel at 10am. We are heading to Sydney tonight on the overnight Greyhound bus. There was no where to store our luggage for the day so we had to stay around the hostel for the whole day with them. It felt like the longest day ever. We used the internet to pass the time and updated our travel journals. Then Gina walked into town to get snacks at the supermarket Woolworths for our bus journey tonight while I stayed with the bags. At 5pm the hostel tour desk gave a talk about information on what tours people could book and everyone was given some goon to drink and cheese and biscuits to eat. It was very interesting and helped pass the time. At 8pm we got the free shuttle from the hostel to the bus shelter in town next to the tourist information centre for our Greyhound bus to Sydney. There was not enough space for everyone to get on the free shuttle so some people who didn't need to catch the Greyhound bus had to stay behind and wait for the bus to come back and collect them. Josefine and Cecila were already at the bus shelter as they were on the same bus as us. The bus came at 8.30pm and Gina went on to get us all good seats while we waited to load our bags on. We left Byron Bay later than we should have but hopefully we should make up the time during the night.
