Our bad luck with buses in Vietnam continued when the driver forgot to fill up the water for a hilly journey to the highland town of Dalat. We overheated, smoke filled the cabin and we all had to get out for the next couple hours while the driver tinkered away. We arrived eventually set down our bags and made a beeline for the bakeries which I'm guessing the french introduced. Loaded with Pate bageuttes and pastries we visited the 'Crazy House', a guesthouse designed by a famous (and presumebly insane) vietnamese artist. Apparently you can stay there though it was strange enough just visiting the place.
We met up with a few travellers off the bus that day, for some drinks and food, and made plans to rent motorbikes and go on a trip the next day. We set off bright and early going on a few dodgy directions scribbled off the internet. The waterfall was impressive and the journey really good fun on the twisting roads throughout the hills. Behind the waterfall was a pagoda and a huge blue laughing buddha that made us laugh in return. We drove back in the afternoon rain and then went out for food. We ended up in a really small restaurant which did fantastic 'clay pot' dishes and spring rolls, now we're just trying to work out how we can recreate it at home!
