Currently in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh which is alright actually but very under developed on the most frustrating computer alive im typing this now and will come up 10 seconds later!!!
We arrived on a bus yesterday and i think its even hotter than saigon which is saying something. There are some really bad smells about again becuase of the heat and all the rubbish on the streets. Yesterday we went to a pagoda that gave Phnom Penh its name for some reason or another something to do with the hill. There were a huge amount of beggers around hassling us for money wasnt very nice as all had their own disability eg blind legless etc. After this we went to a market which was pretty large where i bought some slaps/flip flops as id lost one of my other ones, a steal and $3. With the group we went to dinner at this nice place which helps challenged kids it was a tapas thing so didnt really fill a hole. As it was Chinese New Years eve we thought we go out for a few and were joined by these two Aussie lads who are pretty sound and fdunny so that was a good night.
Today was pretty good but had a miserable morning as we went to both Prison S-21 and the Killing Fields. Our guide was really good telling us all that happen leading up to it and everything I found it really interesting. I found out that there are still people from the Khmer Rouge regime in the goverment and the kings family are part of it, controversial. Well there were 7 million people when Pol Pot took over in 1975 and he killed 1.7 million and 1 million died of starvation which is just a stupid amount. He killed all the intelligent people that wore glasses, had smooth hands with good jobs which confuses me. Anyway looking forward to tomorrow and this afternoon going to go and see the palace which you will soon see pics of. We had a really good last night in the capital in which we went to our tour guides "house" for a traditional meal. We sat on the floor and had so much food and at the end of the meal he brought out deep fried tarantula which wasnt too bad. To wash that down we had some tarantula whisky which was 30 dead tarantula at the bottom of a whisky bottle again surprisinly not bad.
See you in Siem Reap and keep in touch
