"This list goes on and on..."
Finally rode the channel train the other day. Got me from Londons Kings Cross all the way to Brussels. It was Bruce, Sian, Michael and I looking forward to a few days in Belgium. First impressions, crazy maniacs on the road and way to busy! Our cab driver had us on coming traffic at one point. But we checked into the cheapest four star hotel deal ever and dropped our bags. City was nice filled with old over the top buildings and desserts everywhere. We wasted no time with the food and had Belgium frites and waffles for dinner. Next day was a day mostly of rest getting ready for Pukkelpop the day after. What a fail that was (check Pukkelpop post).
Then with the extra days we checked into a dodgy little hotel for two nights and saw the bits of the city we had missed, The Atomium, and some of the new buildings. As well we had a couple of nights out sampling the local beers. Not to bad although all a little to strong. 8-12% beers were a little to much. Once Sian and Bruce left Dias and I still had a free Hilton experience thanks to Colin. Two nights in a joy room, free breaky and all the perks of a nice hotel. It was the first time since Thailand breaky was worth waking up for. Last two days in Brussels we spent in the comic book and musical instrument museums. Both very different but very cool. Comic book museum had all the Tintin history as well as Astrix and Marsupalami which I didn't know was from here. The musical instrument museum was very full of Vilons and versions of. It was cool though to listen to all the crazy instruments but. Wish I could have seen how you play them though.
Into Brugge next.
