Hi , back again after 2 days of serious sightseeing in Israel, mainly biblical sites and of course prior to that back to 5000BC.
The sites are often well restored to, more so than in Greece.
We have see Caesaeoa where Herod the king lived, seen the house of Peter the disciple and where Jesus lived the last 3 years of his life, and the 4th and 5th AD churches built on top, the Mt of Beauatides where Jesus preached to 1000's, then where he turned the fish and loaves into enough to feed 5000.
We drove up into the Golan Heights area that was controlled by Syria until the 1967 6 day war with Eygpt.
Today the Israeli side is green , Syrian brown. There is no fighting on that border.
We could see to Lebanon in another direction. We saw lots of army bases, not as modern as I expected.
There are lots of beloved dogs being walked around regardless of the heat, they seem to cope.
We are in a hotel full of holidaying Jewish families. Last night they had their Friday night services in a room here then wine and bread ceremonies at the table with singing/chanting before they ate the lovely buffet dinner.
Today EVERYTHING was shut and tonight there was a very limited sad dinner. So not good to be here for the Sabbath!
