Friday : overcast
We are 2134m high, back up in the mountains, and the temperature is noticeably cooler, the more important thing is the fresh air. There was a small amount of sun and blue sky this morning, but unfortunately no big mountains were visible.
We have no plans for today, except to organize our plane tickets to Portugal, and back to Delhi. We left the hotel around 11am in search of some food, it took awhile to find anything decent aswell. We started off in the wrong direction, but that was ok, We were walking around the back streets, watching the locals do there thing.
We eventually found a nice public square where there were plenty of options to choice from. Being so close to Nepal too, we found a place that had MOMO's. After a quick bite we found a coffee shop that also was serving cake.
We then went for a walk to try and find a tourist info centre. But as usual the lonely planet maps are all over the place, and we found nothing. We did on the other had find the lookout for Mt. Khangchendzonga, but we had no luck in seeing it.
We left the lookout and went searching for a Internet cafe to book our plane tickets. After an hour on the computer we couldnt get the airlines website to work. So then we went to find a travel agent to try and book our tickets instead, but the local travel agent only excepted cash. That seemed silly when we saw shops selling T-shirts with credit card machines, and travel agents where you can spend a lot more than $5 don't. Anyways our next problem was finding a ATM that dispensed more than $200, we were unsuccessful. To cut a long story short, we bought our Portugal tickets at another Internet cafe, and paid for our domestic flights with cash.
It was pretty late after sorting all that out, but at least we got to see a fair bit of the high side of town. We headed back to the hotel with some snakes for dinner, but not knowing that there weren't any good flicks on tonight. We still enjoyed the snacks of corse.
