The 20 hr bus trip from Hanoi to Hoi An: sleeper bus (literally beds on a bus), valium, ipod, book, rikki passed out, crazy driving, 4wd, disgusting Russian man who couldn't fit through the isle let alone the toilet who drank wine, ate cream cheese, pickles and bread until he passed out cold, loo stop which wasn't enough time for everyone to go to the loo, broken sleep and dirty Germans... experience.. oh yes!
Once arrived we caught a taxi to the hotel Liam recommended us; Binh hai, where we checked in to our $6 a night room with a view, showered and then went out to explore the bustling town. Absolutely gorgeous! Hoi An is very French though only in infrastructure and baguettes. We made our way to the doctor to check out my toe as it's been 2 weeks and therefore time to get my stitches out.. Long story short, I have copped a wee set back, however the stitches are out and I will get a visit from him each morning to my room for a jab of penicillin and a checkup. Dinner we found a riverside market/restaurant where we tucked into our first real Vietnamese food; Xeo Bing, spinach and shrimp and squid in this delicious sauce! Yum yum (oh in Vietnamese yum = horny). After a few beers, Liam our English brother joined us bringing a new bunch of people to get to know. Drowsy from the cocktail of drugs I'm taking, I headed back for a goodnight sleep. 4:30am Rikki stumbled in with Liam; trying to be quiet they laughed and giggled until he left us girlies to sleep.
