So my adventure begins....
After my sad goodbyes and happy memories, I left melbourne and my little pad in Richmond bound for the Northern Territory for a weeks visit with mum, Phil and the pups on Groote Eylandt.... If you havent heard of this place its the 3rd biggest Island in Australia, off the West coast of the Gold of carpentaria... Its main attraction is Manganese, a strong mineral used to make steal! Mum and Phil have been up there for 18months living and working there!
So in I flew (6:05am Leave melbourne - 8:40pm groote) to be welcomed by penny and wezza giving me kisses cuddles and showing me that after 18months without seeing me there has really been no memories lost! The township where they live is so quaint! everyone derives the same car, lives in the same house, wears the same uniform and owns the same boat! 1 little corner shop, 1 post office, 1 resort, 1 bistro, 1 bottleshop, 1 school... a gym and a local swimming pool.... and that about sums aryangula up!
On the weekend we took the boat out to rats cove; a hidden treasure and fished, made a camp fire, shared wine, laughs and stories... camped overnight and continued the next day with =more fishing and relaxing in the gorgeous bay!
The landscape in stunning overhere! brillant blue water, red dusty sand.... arid landscapes with jagged rocks hidding the view of the spectacular red sunsets! wow! what a place! and whats cool about this place.... you can only come if you have family on the island, share accom with a friend that lives there or spend 1 billion dollars per night at the resort.... no tourism! just locals! awesome!!! feel pretty special!
on the monday, mum took the day off from work and took me and the dogs down for a bath a the nakes pools; a freshwater waterfall in the middle of the desert! its the kind of stuff you see on NT documentaries.... the colours are unbelievably vibrant and the pictures dont do it justice! we always kept an eye out for crocs! didnt see any though :)
take a look at the pics... what a gorgeous country our home is!
So tonight im back in darwin and with the help of mum, the post office and a bit of luck i have my passport and visa and I am finally ready to board my 4:45am flight to bali tomorrow! from there i have a connecting flight to Labuan bajo (indo) where i wuill check in with wicked diving and get prepped for the boat trip! so adios! and i shall be writing soon!
Let the aventures begin!!!!!!
