We crossed the border! I am no longer in Brazil.
Border patrol seem quite easy going. I beepd through the metal detector and the guy didt really care, so i showed him i had a camera in my pocket and he nodded me on. I also changed my Reals to Pesos so theres no going back! (except for my stopover in Sao Paulo)
We got to the campsite and it had been raining for a couple of hours. The red clay soil was horrible and the thought of camping was sooo draining. There was a hostel right next to the campsite and we worked out there was maybe less than 10 pounds difference (exchange rate is like 1 pound=5.6 pesos). So basically im at a pretty amazing hostel. seems like a hotel to me, though i cant remember the last time i was in a hotel.
Today we left early and went to Iguazu falls, Argentina side. I wasnt sure how different it was going to be but was quite excited to see the falls again. We had a tour guide this time, Rudi. Rudi took us through a little jungle walk (though this jungle seemed a little pathetic after the pantanal!) and then we sort of walked through the High bit looking at the other side of the falls from the top (which is similar to what we did in Brazil but a whole different atmosphere).
Then we did a lower trail which puts you SO close to the water. You can see the sheer volume of water that falls its incredible. And the sound is wicked.
At the bottom we took a speedboat into the water. Theres a couple of photo ops but you basically put everything into water proof bags (i wore a bikini and a life jacket) and then we went right up to 2 different waterfalls. This isnt like the falls i did in Bonito though, these waterfalls are HUGE and we got absolutely drenched. The water just pummels down.
After this Rudi said wed go to a restroom to change and eat lunch. We all walked back up and a couple of people sat down to eat so i went into the toilet. However when i came out they were all gone and i realised i hadnt told anyone where i went. So clever me got lost again.
I spent a while looking for them but its a massive park. Then I spent a while looking for the train to the Devils Throat (which was all that was left to see so I knew theyd go there after lunch). However Bela said that he would be in the parking lot with Trevor at 3, and if we did not come by 3 he would leave at 3. next train to the devils throat was at 10 past 2 and there was no way i could get up there see it and come back in time - which was really annoying.
Anyway i got up there in time to catch the group heading back, they all apologised but it was my fault so i didnt mind at all. Rudi advised me that takinf a taxi would be pointless as there was a direct bus much cheaper so i took down the details and went off to the devils throat.
Its impossible to describe the devils throat which is like where loads of the falls sort of join together and its the border between the 3 countries. To me it looked like the end of the world.
I took the train and walked a bit - completely soaked but very happy. I also managed to get the bus back to the hostel fine and now im just waiting for dinner.
We have like a 5.30 start tomorrow to attempt to get to Salta. Salta is where theres horse riding, paragliding, wine tasting, zipwire, rafting and so much more and altogether everything adds up to a ridiculous amount. Luckily horseriding is the most expensive thing so im going to pick and choose (not horseriding obviously). I think theres free camping tomorrow and maybe hostels after that. Im not too sure!
Either way Im loving Argentina, it was sunny during the day which is great but there was a thunderstorm aswell just now so i guess ill have to judge after camping tomorrow!
