Just to update. It's my 3rd and final day in Townsville. Not an awful lot to do around here, most people use it as a stop off point for magnetic island or somewhere to rest between journeys.

First day I got here I had a look through town, all there seems to be is bars and club about. The beach is nice and there's another lagoon at the end of it and apparently its a great place to spot turtles but I didn't see any when I was there.

Second day I climbed castle hill. A big rock just behind Townsville so you can get a great view, I was told it's best to go at sunset because the sun goes down behind the rock so theres like a purple sky shining over the city and it was cool! You can also see magnetic island as it isn't far away and there was like a purple line in the sky at one point hovering over it with clouds around while underneath there was still some blue sky. I waited around up there for like a couple of hours to see what it looked like at night and when all the lights turned it was really cool.

Today I've just wandered around, it's weird cus it's like a big area but everything is so spaced out in the city it always seems quiet.

The hostel is a bit crap too, no tv, no atmosphere and because the wifi is free everybody just sits on their laptop being unsociable all night, and there's so many germans here it's unreal!

Glad im off tomorrow for magnetic island, think I'll book airlie beach when I get over there, meant to really lush there and I've got friends there so it will be even better.
