FRASER ISLAND!!!
After spending the night at a campsite in Hervey Bay, we arrived bright and early at the Beaches Hostel in time to meet the remaing 5 people in our crew. We all hit it off straight away. The others were just as rowdy and prone to alcoholism as me, Shell, Nicki and Andy - another Cellblock escapee. By midday we had reached Fraser and were already on the goon. We managed to consume 5 boxes of the stuff (4.4 litres in each) in one day between 4 of us.
Our first day was spent cruising around the island - forgive me if the details are rather hazy - we stopped off at Eli Creek and then a famous shipwreck and even had time for a spot of rounders on the beach. By the time we had arrived at our campsite, we were sloshed. The other two groups had already erected their tents and were lookin stoney faced as we rolled up and sent ages trying to work out how to put our tents up. Come sunset, everyone was happy. We played 'Slap the Goon' and 'what the f***' and managed to enrol just about everyone on the trip. It was a fantastic night and everyone's nicknames managed to stick until we left the island.
On our second day we waited until 1pm to crack open the goon. We walked up to Indian Heads (I don't remember much of it but I'm sure the photos will tell the story) and stopped off on the beach for a bit. Nicki almost killed us on the way back by driving over the grand canyon - a crater in the sand - at 85kph! That evening was a little more reserved, apart from the conversation that included one of the guys enlightening us on the art of 'Felching'. I would love to elaborate but I will save your stomachs'.
I don't think I have ever laughed so much. It wouldn't even be worth my time telling you every single story because you would probably find them extremely juvenile! Even so, it was incredible and the beginnnig of the best road trip ever!
