Hi guys
I haven't got a lot of news but thought I'd give you the low down anyway.
I have now finished Ozintro and am staying with a friend in Kings Cross. When I have mentioned to people I am staying here, the most common reaction is to raise their eyebrows because it's known for it's gays and prostitutes! But I can honestly say I haven't experiened any of that. It is so laid back and not in the slightest bit seedy [Ha ha ha! I must've been off my rocker writing that, Kings Cross is full of tramps and prossies all part and parcel tho!], perhaps a little bit like Soho but Soho is my favourite part of London, you just can't beat the nightlife.
Anyhow, to finish off our Ozintro week, we did a route 69 bar crawl on Saturday and on Sunday a more reserved meal at the top of the Sydney Tower.
Saturday was crazy, we visited 5 bars where were given a free drink in each and danced until 5am. Having been given news of my pole dancing hobby, the Ozintro guys were desperate to see me in action and practically dragged me onto a makeshift pole in Scubar while everyone else chanted my name. I was incredibly embarrassed and seeing as the pole didn't even touch the floor - it was raised about 2 feet and connected to a ledge that I could barely find room to stand up on - I was absolutely cacking it! I managed a couple of upside down moves and everyone went crazy for some reason! It was good fun though, especially watching the fat heffer who went up there after me, trying to swing her flabby bulk around it. I wouldn't be so unflattering in my description if she hadn't kicked me in the head as she did it!
Sunday night at the Sydney Tower was a very classy affair. We had panoramic views of the City from very high up and were sat at tables on a revolving floor, which was most fun until you went to the toilet and your table had moved. By the end of the night we resorted to making our own entertainment by testing the revolving floor, one foot on the moving part of the floor and the other on the stationary part until we were practically doing the splits. Someone even balanced their chair on it.
Yesterday I went job hunting. I had a private pole lesson on Monday and have decided to do an 8 week course. To fund this and a further 8 weeks in Sydney, I NEED a job, plus I am now totally skintos! Having been out for farewell drinks with my Ozintro crew on Wed night, missing my last train and having to stay at their plush hostel in the City, my day started well. Thankfully, I woke up at a decent time and made it to the first interview with no problems. Had to take the standard word and typing tests (75wpm and 97% accuracy, get in!) only to be told that they have nothing at the moment because most of the big wigs don't come back from their holidays until after Australia day on 26 Jan, crap! Afterwards, while I was walking down the road in my quest for a pair of shoes (I was currently wearing frumpy birkenstocks - sorry mum!) a man stoped me and said 'excuse me, I noticed your forehead, you are very lucky'. Clearly I thought this man was insane and kind of shrugged and looked at him nonplussed. So he said 'you have three lots of good luck coming to you very soon and you are going to be very happy but you think too much! Charming! I was convinced he was trying to sell me something so walked away ha ha! But no one else at my hostel has encountered anything similar. I am probably due a bit of luck, but as tradition has it, I only seem to attract the bad kind :(
I had two more interviews after that and they all said the same, to hold out for another week and a half because it will pick up loads then. They also said it's not worth going up the East Coast to find work because it's a waste of my skills if I end up doing bar work or the like, so I have to sit it out for a bit. Could be worse!
After this lengthy blog, I probably won't have anything to report for a long time, so take care everyone! Will let you know if I get any work! Probably going to have an actual job interview next week but it's for a senior PA, somehow I don't think my experience quite stretches that far, but you never know!
XxX
