27 April
Today was one of those Saturday mornings where one sleeps late, waking up every 30 minutes but opting to role over and sleep again, except it was a Monday. We got up eventually, headed for breakfast, had omelets, toast, fruit platter and coffee and headed for an electric shop to find a converter from Malaysia to Thailand for the laptop and a new simcard for the cellphone. After walking around for about 2 ½ h I found them both, I headed back where Leanne was busy reading about Kao Sok after having visited immigration to find out if we could exit and re-enter the country with our current visa's - unfortunately we couldn't.
I tried contacting Dell to ascertain when and where they would meet us to replace the laptop, after more than an hour to try and contact them I finally found a number that worked and was told that they would not replace it but I had to return to Singapore where they would replace it. After a long deliberation she said she would contact Dell in Malaysia and phone me back.
We decided to take a stroll along the river where we were staying and headed for the park of Krabi town, about 40 minutes walk along the river with beautifully trimmed hedges and sitting mats with tables for family who come to sit and eat lunch or children paint plasterparis figurine money banks.
We bought soft drinks, sat at one of the tables watching people with their daily routines and headed home. The evening we went to the night market across the street from us an enjoyed Thai style fried noodle with vegetable and chicken and peanuts. I contacted Stuart Gillhaw, a legend in the sports fishing circles regarding an advertisement I had seen, the picture that caught my attention was the Arapama, a native fish from Brazil and also the largest freshwater fish in the world. After about 4 calls where we haggled regarding the price and logistics of getting there we made arrangements that he would pick us up the next morning for a day of fishing at his lake.
