Jim Plantico's Travels
Like in many parts of the world when you are on a bus vendors hop on and off selling food and drinks. In Paraguay it is Chipas. Vendors hop on the bus and push down the aisle holding a wicker basket covered in a towel yelling, "Chipas, Chipas Caliente, Chipas." Chipas are corn dough rolls mixed with gooey cheese. They can quickly fill a bus with the smell of warm bread, and at less than 50 cents per roll they are a delicious snack, especially when hot.
