While I have flown into the Atlanta international numerous times, sadly is the furthest I have set foot into Georgia. Apparently, The Sweet Georgia Juke Joint at 200 Peachtree is trying to recreate the juke joints of juke joints past and like the Venice hotel and New York New York in Las Vegas, the Atlanta International airport's Sweet Georgia Juke Joint tried its best to retain the magic of the original, but only copy of a copy. At 8 am, while I was shoveling down their delicious fried chicken and waffles, and Phil Collins' projected image did his best to serenade me from the massive screen just to the left of the darkened bar, I could care less if this was just a watered down version of a version that likely never existed.
My waitress was all business with me, but all party down with the two young blondes at the table to the right. Our two tables were almost joining so the contrast could not be more evident. The two blondes, official representatives of "Full Tilt Poker", were either heading to, or recently returning from, St. Petersburg Russia. The were celebrating their morning over a couple of the juke joint's famous moonshine berry shots and beer chasers, while I was just trying to clear my travel wary bloodshot eyes with their less famous coffee.
