Jim Plantico's Travels
For us Americans without a Brazilian visa the only legal way to get into Puerto Iguazu, Argentina from Ciudad del Este is via ferry. However, my taxi driver insisted that he could just drive me past Brazilian customs, through the town of Foz do Iguacu and directly to the Argentinian border without stopping. The traffic over the "Freedom Bridge" into Brazil was jammed, so the ferry option turned out to be faster and far more scenic (200 Guarani from the center of Ciudad del Este)
My tax driver, Anselmo Vidal Gonzalez (0973) 538 588, helped me through the tiny customs office before we rolled the taxi onto the 12 car ferry over the Parana river to Puerto Iguazu.
