Arrived in Curitiba (pronounced KooriCHEEba) around 5.30 this morning after a ride on the night bus that was interesting to say the least. I think the driver was trying to win some sort of time record - bus was almost on 2 wheels around the bends and watching him pull out to overtake on blind rises and bends was a tad scary. Not many people slept.
Luckily we were able to check into the hotel early and get a couple of hours sleep. At 10 we met up again and did a bit of an orientation walk and had a late breakfast. Most of us then did the hop on hop off tourist bus. Unlike other buses of its type this one only allows you 4 stops out of the 20 plus on the route do tony helped us plan. Turns out we didn't have time for 4 anyway so just did the botanical gardens, Oscar Niemeyer museum (more of a modern art gallery really) and the telecom tower for its 360' views of the city. I quite like this place. A good mix of old and modern architecture, not too crowded and clean. We're supposed to be heading out tonight before a 7am bus to Sao Paulo tomorrow so I'm going to try for a Nanna nap.
