Kia Ora! (A Maori greeting)
Well, It's our last day in New Zealand and we've had a great month travelling around one of the most diverse countries, from rain forest to beach to snowy mountains. We fly to fiji tonight where hopefully it will be a lot warmer!
Living in a campervan for so long (here and Oz) has been an experience in itself, and although we've had lots of laughs and tears in the van, I think we were glad to hand it back yesterday!
The biggest and probably our proudest moment was our skydive in Lake Taupo. What an unbelievable experience and total scensory overload! I was terrified whilst dangling outside the plane but once we had jumped I'm so glad we did it!! An experience we'll never forget - and we have the video to remind us too! We also loved Queenstown and could have spent 2 weeks there!
Travelling round the north and south islands, we saw some beautiful sites, especially the lakes, glaciers and Southern Alps. Boy was it cold but we had hot water bottles and hot chocolates to warm us up! The wildlife was amazing too. We got to see seal colonies and penguins in the wild! So cute! We searched on around 20 beaches where sea-lions are supposed to live or visit but we didn't see any despite our efforts!
Learning about Mouri culture and New Zealand history along the way was fasinating and the people are truely the friendliest around!
I don't think we'll ever forget New Zealand and our experiences here (or at least I hope we don't). Being in country with such a small population was a real eye opener! we visited towns with populations of around 20, passed shoe trees and bra fences(!) and bathed in outdoor hot pools.
We Love NZ!
2 weeks and we're home x x
