I'm back!
Still haven't gone to Paris yet, but I have been visiting people before I go. Last weekend I went back up to Durham. As soon as I got off of the train it felt like I hadn't been away at all! On Friday I went out with the Durham Saints (the American Football team), Lulu and I were the only girls but it was quite enjoyable watching the rookies getting told to down a 'PINT OF WINE' and then doing it to impress the older lads. I've missed socials so much! On Saturday I met Faye (who is my friend from home but also does the same course at me at Durham) for lunch. We hadn't seen each other for nearly a year, as she has been in Vienna, so we had loooads to catch up on. It was really sad saying goodbye as we know we probably won't see each other for almost another year! On Saturday evening I went out again with Caroline and Lulu from the Divas (my cheerleading team at Durham), there were only three of us but I had a really good time. We ended up in Studio and I saw loads of people I know so it was good to have a quick catch up with everyone as well as a good dance. I won't be back in the country until the end of June next year, which means I probably won't be going back to Durham as all of my friends will have graduated. It was so sad getting on the train to come home on Sunday (after eggs benedict at Cafe Rouge with Lulu!). Although I miss Durham sooo much, going back has given me a kind of closure...it was great, but not quite the same when I only know about 20 people there, maximum. I'm hoping that I will now be able to look back on Durham fondly without breaking down inside at the loss of my youth! It really does seem like yesterday that my Dad persuaded me to go to the post app open day back in March 2007, and now I've been and gone, and somehow have a degree!
When the train got into London from Durham, I was hoping to jump on the high speed from St. Pancras, but my parents were in London with their friends for the weekend and they were my only means of getting home from the station, so I had to sit in Charing X for an hour and a half. I bought Heat mag and a hot chocolate so it could have been worse, but then I had to get the slow train to Ashford, then wait at Ashford for half an hour because the men missed the train and were on the one behind.
We waited in the Eurostar terminal which was weird, I mainly stared at the Disney lift and considered my future. I hope I don't get sick of Disney. My contract isn't majorly long though so I hoping it's just enough time to make lots of friends and enjoy the job without wanting to never see Disneyland again. That would be tragic.
Only three more days at Eurostar to go! I am quite sad about leaving as it is the first proper job I've had where I'm treated like a grown up and given proper responsibilities, and even though I'm a temp the people there still include me in the team which is really nice. I also feel like I could now use Customer Service as a back up career if music/TV doesn't work out for me! I'm going to bake the team some Disney cupcakes which I'm going to bring in on Thursday, partly because then there is time to finish them all before the weekend, and partly because I have some more jabs on Thursday morning so I think my arms might hurt too much to bake on Thursday evening.
Anyway, I'm having trouble getting up for work recently so I'm going to head to bed now. There may not be another update until just before I go, but if anything exciting happens between now and then I'll be sure to write about it...
Goodnight! xxx
