Our first proper day as travellers!
We woke up at around 9.30am which was good as it meant our bodies had adjusted to the time, and went downstairs in the hostel for our free breakfast. I went for a noodle soup which was really spicy - a strange thing to have for breakfast!
We then headed to the skytrain and then got a bus which took us close to Khao San road - the main backpacker road. We took a double room in the first hostel we found because it is high season, so we are sharing a double bed!
We then went for a walk and got some lunch (more noodles) and as we were looking for places to see a nice Thai man told us about the people who try to rip you off and helped us find a Tuk Tuk for a good price. He got us a Tuk Tuk for 20 baht (40p) between three, which took us to lots of places like temples and statues, but on our penultimate stop he left us! It was ok because we hadn't paid him, so we got another Tuk Tuk (for less than 4p each) to the Standing Buddha and then back to our hostel. On our way we booked the rest of our time in Thailand with the tourist office, so we are now sorted for a jungle trek including elephant riding, rafting and other stuff, as well as all of our accommodation and travel for the islands.
The Tuk Tuk was really fun - it was nice to have a breeze as we went along. We had a look along Khao San road where there are loads of nice dresses, playsuits, sunglasses etc. but I haven't bought anything yet - maybe tomorrow! In the evening we went for a night out where we met lots of other travellers and went to a few bars and a good club, I had a really good night but have spent more money than I had hoped!
We have paid for everything from tomorrow evening when we get a nightbus to Chang Mai so hopefully I will stop spending!
Missing home but really enjoying it here!
