Heya everyone
I am currently in Vang Vieng, whoop whoop!!! :)
Me and Leo set off pretty early from Luang Prabang on Saturday morning to get here, we had an awesome mini van of people though, everyone was chatting and we all ended up staying in the same guest house called Domon Guest House, the nicest accommodation I have stayed in thus far.
We have a few Dutch people in the group, Vincent, Helen and Sandra, one guy from L.A. called Casey, one guy from Chile called Walton and another English girl called Clare. Everyone is pretty cool, we all went tubing together yesterday which is just the most mental and surreal thing that I have ever done. Piture this, literally set in some of the most amazing scenary you will see, like something off of Jurassic Park (The Lost World) with shed loads of tourists floating down the river in rubber rings and kayaks. There are loads of bars along the way offering free shots. They also have epic rope swings and slides that launch you into the river, I went on every single one, I couldn't resist, they were just mental :) They also have mud volley ball, mud tug of war and a shed load of other things..........craaaaaaaaaaaaaazy :)
Vang Vieng the place is another wierd one, it literally centres itself around tourists and nothing else. There are bars and restaurants serving food and drinks with a constant loop of Friends and Family Guy episodes on the TV, as well as showing all of the football (which I didn't mind catching up on, come on Arsenal!!!!) They also sell Magic Musroom everything: Pizzas, Pancakes, shakes, you name it and they have got it, the special menu is defintely special when you get to Vang Vieng :), I even saw on one menu that you could buy a Kilo of weed, how mental is that???
My verdict on Vang Vieng is that it is so surreal but awesome at the same time, I experienced the Bucket Bar and Q Bar last night which was all good!!! :)
Its raining outside at the mo, so I'm not too sure what I am up to today, but I am heading to Vientiane tomorrow morning with Leo before getting the bus down to Udon Thani where I will fly to Bangkok. Some Irish guy recommended flying out of Udon Thani rather than Vientiane as Air Asia fly out of this particular airport, which has saved me about 150 big ones (can't find the pound sign on the key board) :)...........thankyou Mr. Irish man. So I fly to Bangkok from Udon Thani and then fly on to Surat Thani, towards the south of Thailand by the islands of Ko Tao and Ko Phangan. My next point of call will be Ko Tao to do my Padi course which should be fun.
I hope everyone is ok back home.
Speak soon X

Lots of love, Dad
