Day 46 12th jan
Feeling a little more settled we enquire about Vinpearl.... The tickets are 500000dong for everything and are available for purchase either on arrival or from hotels.... We have to check out of our current hotel this morning as we had initially intended on leaving today, but we've checked into another hotel along the same road as we have now decided to take a day off and visit Vinpearl island which will mean we need an extra night in Nha Trang.
We carry our stuff 50 meters up the road and bump the lot in reception.... It's around 9am so our room for this evening is not yet available.... This we were expecting so we've already got ourselves sorted with day bags....
We head off on the bike in the direction of the ports.... Vinpearl is a amusement park that's situated on an island off the mainland coast an is only accessible from boat or cable car.. The cable car also departs from the port area and it's this method we are using.... The cable car is the longest cable car that covers sea water in the world and when traveling on it you end up looking down on seemingly small cruise ships that are docked in the port..... Its a nice rude across... Its smooth and the wind is slight...
On arrival at Vinpearl we climb a few granite steps and arrive in a area with a selection of fare ground rides including bumper cars.... Which of coarse we try out... Unfortunately its a little overcast today and starts to rain lightly so we dive into an "Arcade" building where there must be 100 different arcade games.... There all free so we spend some time In here, I get well and truley beaten by Shiree at a basket ball game.... From here we enter a 4D cinema... It's very similar to the capsule style rides you can go in where the whole ride is ontop of large hydronic rams.... You sit inside and watch a short film, whilst the rams move the ride around In time with the film.... This is a very similar experience except the ride also blows jets of air or small sprays of water onto you as well.... It was good.... But once was enough....
The whole park is pretty quiet... So no queues anywhere.....
From here we just wonder, the rains stopped and there's warmth from the sun..... The parks really nice.. It's been finished to a high standard with quality materials and the upkeeps good.... The gardens are immaculate. We find a map and decide to take a look in the aquarium... It isn't far the best aquarium I've been in... It has many fantastically coloured fish and sea creatures and the tanks all look great.... You enter the building on the top floor and work your way down.... In the lowest floor is the largest room with a glass walled and roofed walkway through a massive tank... The floor slowly moves like a huge conveyor belt so you just stand and enjoy the ever changing scenery.....
The is what appears to be hundreds of different fish from sharks down to tiny little fish that sit in the open mouths of larger fish.... How or why these fish don't eat themselves is a wonder....
From here we head to the part if the park that got us here in the first place... The water park.... Built by the Vietnamese without a health and safety official in sight it's bound to have some exhilarating rides....
The waters a little chilly but the rides are great fun... Some are very different from what i have seen at home and are brilliant, whilst some just rely on speed to impress... You get a mat for all bar a few of the rides we go on and you need it..... There not built to the same standard as back home, so combined with the extra speed loosing some skin would be easy on most rides....
We watch for ages people shooting out the end of the fastest slide here.... Most people needing to dig there swimming costumes back out of places it wasn't meant to go and tending to fresh friction burns as the leave...
All very funny as a spectator.... We'd decided to leave this particular ride to others.....
