Instead of battling with the heat today, we opted for a tour of Abu Dhabi with a private driver. The first place we visited was the Sheikh Zayed mosque.I remember passing this mosque in 2008, when I was on my way to Egypt.I only spent one night in Abu Dhabi and didn't get time to see it. The mosque was very impressive and reminded me a little of the Taj Mahal in India. It was completely white and had four minarets.
We left the mosque and went to see the F1 track at Yas Island. It was a really big futuristic area and I couldn't believe it was only used once a year.We also visited the Emirates palace and Mum and Dad had to basically stay in the car because they had shorts on. I went up and had a look inside, sheer opulence. It would want to be for $20k a night! The driver also took us to a cultural centre in which there were a donkey, Arabian horse and camel all tied up.The camel was so restricted it could barely move.I felt really sorry for it.
I had a look in the small museum and chatted to this guy from Syria for a bit before going back to the hotel. We hung out there in the air conditioning for a bit before going out for dinner at KFC.I had an early night before my 14 hour flight tomorrow and Mum and Dad went out for coffee.
Home in the morning.
