Well as promised I did managed a sleep in today, a real one. I didn't end up getting out of bed until 10am. I decided I would go into Fira for lunch and a bit of a girly day. I did a bit of shopping and had a pedicure and my eyebrows waxed and even bought some hair dye. This will be the second bathroom at this hotel I have destroyed. I wonder if they will have me back.
I had lunch, which was an awesome giros kebab, with chips and garlic sauce and went for a walk around the town. I again marveled at the beautiful views and thought to myself, I will never get sick of looking at this. That was one thing about Turkey, I realized. I was never bored there, as a tour leader. I must have visited each city at least seven times, yet I still went back for a holiday. The thought of having to go back to Eastern Europe, destination wise, almost makes my skin crawl. I'm so bored with it.
In the entire time I've worked there I have not made one good friend or contact I would consider keeping in touch with, which is really sad. In Turkey, I made new friends on a daily basis, going back to visit them was actually one of the reasons I stayed in Turkey after my last tour finished. I could have gone straight back to the Greek Islands or Cyprus or one of a dozen other places, but no I chose to stay somewhere I'm just as enchanted by now as the day I first stepped foot on it's soil. I've always said it, the people make the destination.
It was a rather windy day today, and I felt sorry for anyone trying to leave via the ferry system. After I returned from Fira, I decided to have a chill out day at the hotel, hopefully, the wind will cease tomorrow and I can start to enjoy Santorini again.
