I live here.
I manage a massive sleep in this morning, getting up at 11am, because I know this is the only time I am going to have for a long time and it's the only time I've had in a long time. I've just worked basically six weeks without a break.
After my sleep in I get up and the first thing I do is go to my window, open it and look out at the red roof tops and the view of the Adriatic. I live here, I think to myself. I come out of my room and my new flatmate Tvetsan, from Bulgaria asks me if I have enjoyed my sleep. I certainly have I tell him and proceed to get ready to go out and get breakfast.
I go out and walk along the water front and stop to get something between breakfast and lunch in a fast food place in the old town. The old town looks like it was constructed by the Romans and there are white marble archways over the streets, marble floors, which I keep slipping on and little cafes poking out here and there. I stroll through this maze getting more and more lost completely content, again thinking….I live here and smiling to myself.
I get back to the flat and get changed because its now really raining and I need to make a trip down to the marina to see where our local operator is. I walk along the water front and gaze back at the beauty of Split, which is one of the most beautiful towns I think I've ever seen. Even in the pouring rain I'm smiling to myself and thinking again, incredulously….I live here. It takes me ages to find the local operator and when I do they are closed, but I use the opportunity to orient myself with the marina's facilities.
I walk back and spent the rest of the afternoon in the apartment drying off, watching TV and studying. I go out at about 6pm for dinner and first decided to stop for a coffee (kava) in a café in the old town. I really have a problem chilling out, I think I'll call it caged lion syndrome. I try and I try to just sit in the café after I've finished my cappuccino, but my strange disorder won't let me and pretty soon I'm on my way. I go to the same restaurant as last night and this time order the veal medallions, which are one of the best things I've ever eaten….now thinking I may need a rigorous exercise program, because I live here. After dinner I take a leisurely stroll back to the apartment to pack for Dubrovnik tomorrow.

Mum You'll love Dubrovnik too but it will have a lot more tourists there, possibly because of the cruise ships stop there for a day like mine did in 2010. The pavements are marble also, so mind you don't slip over.
