Brisbane!
Before we went to Brisbane we stayed with John and Carroll in Tweed Heads for a few days. It was great to see them and Terry and Alison again, and also to meet Dean and Christian (friends of Terry and Alison) who were over for a holiday from Port Talbot.
We spent the first couple of days walking around the city and found out that there isn't much to do in Brisbane as we had previously expected. Despite this, it's a very pretty city with the Brisbane river running right through the middle of it. We spent a lot of our time wandering around the South Bank area, whether it be at one of the night markets or just lazing around streets beach. Streets beach is a man made lagoon with an artificial beach where more or less everyone goes to have a swim, sunbathe and even have BBQ. We visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and got to cuddle a koala. I'm sure this made Rhi's whole trip, sorry Poppy. His name was Wesley and he was pretty small compared to all the rest and even though he pooped a little bit on Rhi she still wanted to take him home. As well as koala's we also got see dingo's, Tasmanian devils, kangaroo's, wombats, a bird of prey show and the two most venomous snakes in the world. Scary!
We ended up spending a lot more time in Brisbane than we had planned, cyclone Ului was currently in the Whitsundays causing havoc and we didn't fancy dealing with that. So we lazed around Brisbane and waited for the cyclone to pass and for power to be restored in the Whitsundays area before making our way up to Airlie Beach.
