We left Marahau and headed south towards Greymouth. We were supposed to drive through the Buller Gorge to the 'wild' west coast which was recently voted as one of the top four drives in the world by Lonely Planet.
Unfortunately our driver Goose hasn't got a feckin clue where he is going so we ended up missing the drive along the coast road and the blow holes and Pancake Rocks at Paparoa National Park.
to be fair to Goose he did offer to drive back up the coast road to the Pancake Rocks, but when we were given the decision to see the Pancake Rocks or do the Monteiths Brewery there was only one winner!
We did the usual boring part of the tour listening to the guy warble on about brewing and packaging etc when all we were there for was to get into as much free beer as possible.
Initially we were given very small tasters but after a while it pretty much turned into a free for all, pouring as and drinking as much beer as possible.
Monteiths is probably the most expensive beer in NZ and it's easy to see why because it's probably some of the best beer you will ever taste. There are eight beers in total ranging from lagers, stouts and they even have p**** girly 'summer beer'.
