I tried to get money from a cashpoint and my card was not returned after receiving the cash. Very frustrating day trying to locate the bank. Once I get there the power is down and I have to go to the other side of town to another branch. The lady will have to phone head office and is unsure when an engineer will get to the machine. I go back to the machine and there is no card jammed in. I have no choice but to call the bank and cancel it. I find a local restaurant and get spring rolls and a green curry. Even the food has been dumbed down for westerners. It comes with a knife, fork and spoon, but in Thai culture a knife is a tool that points and is therefore rude. Thailand sold its soul, certainly in Phuket anyway. I go looking for a restaurant Mo mentioned. Its pouring with rain and some tiles are loose. When I stand on some of them water flies up my leg. Reminds me of the the bridge scene in Escape from New York. Safer obviously, water instead of a land mine. I settle for an Italian, overpriced restaurants are dominant here and pretty good value tucked up a side street even if not Thai food. I pick up some juice at a 7-11 and head back to hotel to make plans.
