Most of today was spent on the bus going down to Hoi An, but while on the bus and chatting to people when we stopped for lunch, I made friends with a French guy called Boris and a French Canadian girl called Maude who were travelling together.
When we got to Hoi An, all three of us had nowhere booked to stay but I had been recommended a place with a swimming pool by someone that I had met previously, I think it was Lisa who I met in Luang Prabang, Laos as we had discussed Vietnam and written some notes in my guide book for use later when I got to places. So Boris and Maude said that they would come and stay too. When we got to the hotel we went to check out the single, double and triple rooms as we had talked about all 3 of us sharing to keep the cost down.
When we saw the rooms we were amazed at what we could get for the money. Compared to the other places that I had been staying they were huge and had a bathroom, with a proper bath, that was bigger than some of the dorm rooms that I had been staying in. When it came down to the 3 of us sharing, it seemed a little weird and that I was obviously intruding (although it was there idea), I decided it would be best to get a single room and leave them to it.
During the rest of the afternoon, I had a quick walk around the town to get my bearings and while doing so, bumped into Irish Tom who had come to Hue with me and then go too drunk to go out on the motorbikes with Eva and I. He was in a travel agents trying to get to Phuket. He got a really high quote for some flights so decided to go off for a drink with me while he thought about his next move on. He decided to get to Ho Chi Minh City as he had planned using the bus ticket that he already had and then to try to get a flight from there to Thailand as it would be cheaper. After leaving Tom after one drink I decided to go and grab some dinner after which I bumped in to Boris and Maude and they said I should have come to knock for them at their Hotel room and we could have all eaten together. Oh well, it was quite nice to eat alone for a change and not intrude.
