Oh-oh, Alex I think was the loudest snorer but he did deny it and blame the girls who were upstairs. I am just glad that it wasn't me for once and I did try to sleep on my front all night so that I didn’t snore. Let’s hope he is not this bad every night as I have to spend the next 2 nights sleeping in the same room as him.
At around 9am our transportation to the beginning of the trek arrived. It was a knackered old vehicle that can only be described as a rust bucket of a truck that was about 50 years old. This truck, I don’t even think it had a foot brake, there was just a makeshift handbrake that he used to slow us down along with using the gears a lot. We got dropped off up the hill at our start point and we were all given a bamboo walking stick to use for walking with, clearing snakes off the path in front of us, etc....
Today’s trek was a total of 6 hours with a break for our packed lunch of chicken noodles wrapped up in a banana leaf which we ate alongside a waterfall. The food was really testy but the waterfall was very refreshing as we were all very hot and sweaty, not a pretty sight. Continuing with the second half of the trek, I managed to be the only one lucky enough to have two leeches find a home on me. One on my hand and the other one was climbing up the inside of my trouser leg. With the first leech, I went up to Sam and held my hand out, "What do I do?" as it wiggled around on my hand. He just grabbed a leaf and pulled of the leech, I thought you were supposed to burn them off. Guess not?
The last part of the trek was through coffee plantations planted on the mountain sides. It was absolutely beautiful and a welcome sight after trekking through all the giant bamboo in the jungle.
We walked down the side of the mountain and walked in to the Lisu village where we were staying at the PDA house up high overlooking the whole village. Diner was prepared for us at our house by some local women who take it in turns to come and cook traditional food for the visitors (obviously being paid, but it shares the money out a bit between the villagers). After dinner some more villagers arrived who were training to become masseuses and offered their services for a minimal fee. I gracefully turned them down, but a few other people including Christina accepted. Christina said that they spent about 45 mins on 1 leg and then the final 15 mins on the rest of her. Lol
I think that Peter (not me, the other one!) was a bit disappointed as he didn’t get the “extras” that he got in Chiang Mai!!!

C xx OMB! Your camera is going to be confiscated when your back! Lol, I'm having a right giggle looking over these photos. . . These were probably the best days out of the holiday. All the kids were so funny :) Even the one at the top of the hill that copied everything we were all saying (Damian's buddy).
